EHT: Energies Haute Tarentaise
Created to meet the specific needs of Haute Tarentaise, our company was born from a common desire to develop a local energy supply, adapted to the specific characteristics of our territory. We are proud of our heritage and our local roots, which allow us to understand and meet the specific needs of our customers.
Energies Haute Tarentaise is a local electricity distribution company dedicated to the four communes of Haute Tarentaise: Montvalezan, Sainte Foy Tarentaise, Tignes and Villaroger.
Our company’s mission is to provide safe, reliable, and sustainable energy to the residents and visitors of our region.
Our History:
The electricity utilities were created in France between the beginning of the 20th century and predominantly between the two world wars. The Tignes utility has existed since 1932 and that of Montvalezan since 1938.
After each had different respective directors, Pierre CAYRON arrived in 2017 as Director of the 2 utilities, then director of the Sainte Foy Tarentaise utility. In close collaboration with the Boards of Directors of the utilities and the Municipal Councils, he embarked on the project to merge the 4 electricity utilities of Haute Tarentaise (Montvalezan, Sainte Foy Tarentaise, Tignes, Villaroger) in order to ensure the sustainability of our activity.
The elected officials decided to group the 4 entities into a SEM (Mixed-Economy Company). Legally, this solution required a private shareholder to join the company. The choice of GEG (Gaz Electricité de Grenoble) seemed obvious. Indeed, GEG is a major and recognized local player in the energy sector, with whom we have collaborated for many years. GEG will therefore acquire a 15% stake in the SEM’s capital.
An opportunity for our ELDs (Local Electricity Distribution Companies), looking to the future, we are consolidating our strengths into a single team of about twenty employees for a local service to strengthen the ties forged with our customers and the communes.
After numerous meetings and studies, the project is validated: the 4 Haute-Tarentaise utilities unite: EHT Energies Haute Tarentaise will be launched on January 1, 2025!
